I can not recommend this surgeon enough. He has operated on me a few times now and his care / knowledge and understanding is outstanding. He will not operate for the sake of it. On one occasion he refused surgery and opted for an injection instead. On my most recent experience with Mt Carrothers, i was in serious pain with my left knee. There were a number of options to deal with this. I opted for a Partial Knee replacement. On the day I became worried if I made the right decision. Mr Carrothers visited me on the ward that morning and took the time to discuss the options again. The comment I remember the most was "Ill do what is right for you". I trust this surgeon with my life, so much so I travel from the far side of Suffolk to Cambridge to ensure I get the best. The way my joints are going, I am sure to be back under the knife with him for my other knee in the not to distant future. I simply would not use anyone else.

After suffering with severe hip pain for almost 4 years, being led to many different types of "alternative remedies" by my GP surgery and being told, and put off, by another hip surgeon about all the risks associated with surgery, I finally got to the right person via an MSK Physiotherapist. That right person was Mr Andrew Carrothers! From my first appointment I was made to feel at ease. Mr Carrothers explained the entire process to me, answered all my questions, understood and was sympathetic to my concerns and gave excellent advice. I had 100% confidence in him, as did my fiancé. Mr Carrothers performed my total hip replacement with Robotic Arm Assisted surgery at the end of February 2023 at the Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. The first 2 days post-surgery were tough, but with a very determined approach I progressed quickly, ensuring I carried out all recommended exercises on a regular basis. After 6 weeks I was pain free and was walking well, mostly un-aided. My recovery was fast and now 6 months post-surgery I totally have my life back. I have recently got married, we honeymooned in Turkey and Greece and there was nothing I couldn't do. A vast contrast to our trip the previous year, where I had to use an electric wheelchair to get about. I cannot thank Mr Carrothers and his team enough for all they have done for me. I had an extremely positive experience. Mr Carrothers is an exceptional surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone needing orthopaedic surgery.

After 3 very painful years of poor advice about my hip injury I looked for an orthopaedic surgeon who could, I hoped, be able to give me some help. I found Mr Carrothers ( Carrothers Orthopaedics) via the internet. I made an appointment and went along to see him at the Cambridge Lea hospital. I didn’t need to explain anything as he showed me immediately on his computer screen exactly what was the cause of all the pain. My hip was in very poor condition and he sympathetically explained that to have a replacement hip I would not have the pain that I had been experiencing in every part of my life. I could have my life back. He explained about the Mako robot system that he uses and the fact that it meant I would not have to have a general anaesthetic enabling a much quicker turnaround and speedier mobilisation. He also assured me that his anaesthetist Professor Maroof would be in theatre and would provide me with sedation and the spinal anaesthetic that I needed. 5 weeks ago I had my surgery, and today I visited Mr Carrothers for my check up. I have got better and stronger each day, the swelling has now almost gone, my scar is healing beautifully, I am walking pain free and not using a walking aid at all at home. I am using my physio to get my muscles stronger so that I can do more. I hope to be going out on my bicycle next week, and also driving my car. I told Mr Carrothers today that from our first meeting I had the confidence that he would be able to do as he had told me. I cannot recommend Mr Carrothers and his team highly enough, his positivity, his ability to explain simply, his encouragement, his pleasure when we met and he saw how well I was doing, his approachability , you can ask him any questions that you have, and the fact that just as he said…….I have my life back at 75

I made an appointment to see Mr Carrothers as I had extreme pain in my knee. He suggested a part knee replacement which I then had at the Spire Hospital in Cambridge. I have to say the whole experience was excellent and Mr Carrothers advice and care were exceptional. He took alot of time to check I was aware of the consequences of the operation and what was involved afterwards with regards to following intently the physios advice. The knee is now nearly fully mended and I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Carrothers to others in a similar position, as I said the whole experience was exceptional and I could not speak higher of the care given.

Mr Carrothers came highly recommended to me by a friend. Very quickly diagnosed torn meniscus, confirmed with MRI scan. Advised knee arthroscopy. Great care, so pleased with result, so good to be virtually discomfort free within 3 weeks, as was incredibly painful pre-surgery. Tiny wounds healing well.
